Mali v Nigeria - 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Semi-Final

Super Eagles defender, Godfrey Oboabona, has been rewarded with a bungalow and N1 million by the Ondo State Government.

Oboabona, who plays for the state-owned Sunshine Stars Football Club, was one of the key players on the Super Eagles team that recently won the African Cup of Nations in South Africa. He featured in all the six matches Nigeria played to emerge African champions.

During an event held in Akure, the state capital, on Wednesday, the state governor, Olusegun Mimiko, presented Oboabona the keys to a bungalow and a cheque of N1 million.

Mr. Mimiko said the reward is for making the club and the state proud.

Oboabona confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES, Thursday, during a telephone chat, that he had received the gifts. “I am very grateful to the Governor and people of Ondo State, Sunshine Stars and my fans. I am very happy,” Oboabona said.
