Nigeria international and Millwall defender Danny Shittu is on the verge of signing a new deal at Millwall. The championship side are keen on keeping the bulky central defender for another two years.
When discussions began last month ‘The Lions’ offered Shittu a twelve month deal, but in a show of goodwill they have agreed to Shittu’s request of longer terms.
Speculations were rife that the two parties were deadlocked over the length of the centre- back’s new contract, according to News at Den a two- year offer has been tabled for several weeks.
As the 32- year- old defender has been very influential at the backline of the team despite his advancing years; manager Kenny Jackett was quick to sanction a revision of the club’s first proposal.
“I love it here, I love everything about it,” Shittu told the London Evening Standard.
“They need to be happy and I need to be happy but am trying to commit my future to Millwall because they have done a lot for me.”
Shittu joined Millwall from QPR in 2012 and has played 40 games this season for the club.
