Land Tussle: Patience, Turai Fail To Settle Out Of Court For The Third Time

Turai-DameFirst Lady Dame Patience Jonathan and her predecessor, Hajiya Turai Yar’adua, failed to reach a peaceful resolution for three consecutive times over the disputed 1.84 hectares of land in Abuja.

This indication emerged after an FCT High Court yesterday adjourned for the third consecutive time the consideration of the negotiated settlement.

The court which adjourned the case to 23 April yesterday resulted after lawyers to the two parties met for almost one hour in the chamber of the trial judge, Justice Peter Affen, discussing the way forward after two earlier attempts at out of court settlement failed.

The disputed land, plot no. 1347 Cadastral Zone AOO, Central Business District, Abuja, FCT, was initially allocated to Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (WAYEF) while Mrs. Yar’adua was First Lady but FCT minister Bala Mohammed revoked and reallocated it to Mrs Jonathan for the building of African First Ladies Peace Mission Headquarters on the 2nd of November, 2011.
