No Intention To Dump PDP —Wamakko

aliyu-wamakkoGovernor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State has denied ever planning to ditch the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), just as he stressed that he had no problems with his colleague and chairman PDP Governors’ Forum, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State on party matters.

Wamakko said he has a solid relationship with Akpabio, contrary to reports that he had grudges with him, just as he warned those he described as mischief makers and sponsors of malicious reports against him to desist forthwith.

There have been media reports that the Sokoto State governor had been uncomfortable with the PDP and hence may dump the party.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Alhaji Sani Umar, Wamakko dismissed the report which, according to him, was untrue, while he described it as “a malicious concoction meant to cause disaffection between him and some of his close friends in the PDP.”

According to the statement, “the report is false in its entirety, being a fiction of the imagination of the authors and should be disregarded by responsible persons. We believe that the report, being a hatchet job, was intended to cause mischief and denigrate the person of the governor of Sokoto State, who is widely acknowledged as a perfect gentleman and a man of impeccable character.”

Wamakko, who is presently in Saudi Arabia for the lesser hajj, said his interest in the PDP remained unshaken, adding that he never nursed the plan to dump the party.
