Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised the alarm over the “reckless manner” in which Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s government spends the state’s funds, thereby calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-graft bodies to beam their searchlight on the activities of the state government by investigating how public funds are spent.
This is following allegations that Mr Aregbesola incurs about N11 million monthly on hotel bills; with about N5 million spent on chartering flights between Lagos and Ibadan in a space of three days.
In a statement by the chairman of the PDP in the state, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, “it is unfortunate that a government can be so reckless in spending as evident in the hotel bills incurred by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) government in Osun State. How on earth would such a huge amount be spent on hotel bills monthly; for how many guests and at what rate?”
Alhaji Olaoluwa added: “How can a government be so insensitive to the plight of its citizenry when everything in the state is at its lowest ebb both economically and commercially?”
