The Bauchi State Police Command has recovered materials used in preparing improvised explosive devices (IEDs) locally along Gombe road in Bauchi.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Commissioner, Mr Mohammed Ladan, yesterday said the materials were dumped near a township divisional police station in Bauchi, concealed in a carton.
Ladan said the improvised explosive devices were neatly concealed in a groundnut oil container branded Turkey, and Malt drink cans, but they could not detonate because the processes were not complete, adding that the police had removed them and the area is now safe.
Residents of the area expressed their confusion on sighting a carton containing a bomb carefully kept inside tins and another leather bag that contained fertilizer.
They said they were grateful the bombs didn’t go off. They therefore urged security agents in the state to intensify surveillance.
