  1. D person whose sentence d boy must be a Cocastic Bastard, by given him judgement of death. Where is dis country turning to by dis so called our rullers in d country? Those who steals Billions and Threellillions in d country are no where to be sentenced by hanging. Did d guy kill with d guy or he uses it to struggle to av his survival since d country as become something else by Nigeria Leaders. Death is not d right step.

  2. abeg na which judge sentence this boy.is dt d right judgement?poor boy dt nobody can speek for him.pple dt r stealing money has never been dealt wt.no body touches their file.una don see pikin wey no get person to speak for him.cant he be sent to 3yrs imprisonment?y hanging?but as for d judge, continue judging oooooooooooo.

  3. Wht s happening death penalty for stealing nd others @ gun point but freedom for embezzling and stealing of public funds using pen and other means of casting away public funds…Thief na thief o no matter hw big and influential the thief is…God s watching sha..Always watching anyway

  4. Is capital punishment no longer abolished? This is injust of the hight order, he didn’t even kill he only rub, what about the goverment official who steal billions of dollar, what about boko haram who kill and rub bank everyday. That boy doesn’t deserve to die at all. That judge should be sanctioned.

  5. This is one of the many reasons why Nigeria can not move forward…government official and some influential people stealing unimaginable amount of money every day, but no sentence of death by hanging for them…not even jail terms for them…everyday we hear of EFCC arresting some big uns…for embezzlement , but no sentence of any kind for them…but a poor boy who erred probably because he was hungry is gonna die by hanging now for a mere two thousand naira….some robbers do more havoc with fire arms, and we hear when they are arrested but we don’t hear when they are sentenced to deat by hanging…shame of that judge and the system that produced him…as my Jamaican friend would say…KMT..(Kiss my teeth)!

  6. i dnt knw wher this country is even going 2? ?dat judge must b a bastard how can he do such thng. . .hang a living soul b,cos of 2000 dat absolute nonsense, ,why nt jail hm 4 some yrs God punish dat judge papa.

  7. It is not what is stole that count but the means/method he used to perpetrate the offence. The use of gun was established which made the offence to be classified as arm robberry; and the punishment for arm robberry is dealt. Let me ask you readers a question, put yourself in the shoe of the victim that was robbed at gun point, at that point in time you are no more yourself psychologically and any mistake on either side might lead to death. That is why every offence were classified and the punishment for all stated accordingly. There is difference in Burglary, House Breaking, Stealing, and Robbery. The headline is misleading this is not stealing but complete arm robbery. You people only considered the amount that was involved but ignored the most vital part(use of gun). Please be conversant with the law.

  8. boy steals 2000 =hanging, politicians embezzle billions=no reaction, boko haram murders millions=amnesty worth billions giving to them,.our leaders and judges are senselss criminals.chaii wot a waste of life u cannot give.

  11. na wa o. Deir ar som pple dat dey ought 2 av been dead sinc or dey should b in psychatric hospital 4 treatment e.g d judges. Aw on earth wil he sentence him 2 death wen is nt dat d guy kil sombody. Wahala wa o

  12. We r too sentimental in dis country.those stealing millions can do so and go scot free, so what?
does that give you the right to rob others of their belongings?
Wen d time for the punishment of the billion-stealing individual cones, he will pay but right now, The person stealing 2000 must also pay. besides what is a student doing with a gun and how many pple do u think he must have robbed and even killed with the gun?
let’s leave sentiment, a 2000 Naira thief today Will turn out to be a billion Naira thief tomorrow, if it Is not curbed tomorrow.
this doesn’t mean I’m in support of his death, but the law must b upheld to deter his likes tomorrow.
KNOWN WHAT IS RIGHT AND DO IT

  13. Imagine dis none sense!!!!! 2 say am angry is d least of it! Hw wil a student b sentence 2 death 4 jst 2k? Is his crime nt punishable thru jail time! Wat abut those fat govt politicians who steal money in d name of service 2 our country! If dis can b done, then who is save? I beta go get my connection!

  14. Na dis one na tay day get power….normally…mercy shud b shown..on d oda hand its a capital offence but sentence to death by hanging is way too far…well daz d constitution sha….

  15. Na dis one una tay day get power….normally…mercy shud b shown..on d oda hand its a capital offence but sentence to death by hanging is way too far…well daz d constitution sha….cos of 2k..u can imagine

  16. Mr faruk lawal , bribe of over 11 million dollaes was not sentence to deartg, another minister embersle 3 billion naira at office and was ask to pay 1 million naira as a fine and house arrest , what they did is it not killing the people without no gun, not just one but they kill a nation and no death penalty… And now a poor student with a gun is going today for 2000 Naira that can not even feed him for 2 days. Shame on Nigerian government and there leaders,

  17. I THINK WE SHOULD ALWAYS TRY N AVAIL OURSEF WITH THE LAWS OF THE LAND. THE REASON HE WAS SENTENCED 2 DEATH IS BECOS OF THE WEAPON HE USED IN COMMITING D CRIME WHICH IS (D GUN). ITS IS BELIEVED IN LAW THAT WHEN U ARMED OR USED A GUN 2 COMMIT SUCH AN OFFENCE, UR INTENT WAS TO KILL D PERSON IF HE IS NOT COOPERATING. AND WHAT D LAW SAY IS DAT WHEN ITS PROVING BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT DAT U TRULY COMMIT D OFFENCE, THEN D PUNISHMENT IS DEATH. SO I BELIF THE JUDGE WAS RIGHT IN PASSING D SENTENCE ON THE GUY.

  18. He stole by using a firearm and as the law has it,his punishmnt is a capital 1.but y cant such measures or punishmt be matd out to top govt officials who emblezzle public funds.what the govt av faild 2 undastand is dat the people’s minds are boiling and very soon.. . . . . . . .

  19. What a country where pple ar sentenced to death for stealing a token yet those who kill nd the politicians who steal millions of naira ar freed. See how decay the justice system is. When will this country be better

  20. I c nafin rung wif d Judgment, dats d law n Justice is done. Lyk som writers already pointd out, armed robbery is a Capital offence wic attracts a death sentence. Dis has nafin 2 do wit corruption in d Judiciary or wateva U’ll choose 2 call it. As 4 our leaders, dey will continue 2 loot d treasures of dis country unless n until a statute spells it out 2 b a crime.

  21. People have said it all but this unfair judgement. For a person that only stolen 2k on gunpoint what about the politicians that kills during election in the country to get to post! when they get their they Embezzled Billions of Nairas?do they get death sentence? No fair judgement for the poor citizens in this country May God help us in these country.

  22. Well i know dat he was convicted for using a gun which was wrong but he shouldnt be given a death sentence….boko haram kill millions of people, govt officials steal nd go free, some high way robbers steal nd go free even wen dey are caught cos dey have connections with politicians, political thugs kill nd go free,
even politicians children kill nd molest people, but yet no justice for all these ones dat are guilty of these crime…dont forget d rule of law….it is only in dis country dat some persons are above d law…well i just dont want to beleive dat dis story is real but if truly its real, den i will say d punishment is too much becos i av seen nd heard of some high way robber dat were sentenced to maybe 2 or 4 years imprisonment nd not death by hanging…..it will take d grace of God to repair dis country

  23. It is god of thunder that will kill all the bad leader in this Country…. I’m suppose to start exam this monday but its not possible bcos the whole polytechnics in the country is on indefinite strike…. God punish all of una generation…. Is it when the youth start to act like the northerns(Boko haram) that they will give us our tittle….

  24. Its natural with Nigerians to be sentimental, always looking for who to blame. Ignorance is a mountain facing this nation. The law in most countries of the world is that if U rob another person while armed (with weapons like gun) you’ll be sentenced to death if proved guilty. This law is applied everywhr in the world but its only in Nigeria people try to rationalize a death sentence of an armed robber by drawing analogies between it and Boko haram or our greedy Leaders.

  25. It points at the failure of the commentators to this news that Nigerians are too lazy and as such distance to the obtainable facts in our laws. For God sake, the accused was convicted for arm robbery and illegal possession of firmarms. All these offences carry with them a life setences virdict. Let face the reality of what we have as law as they were, before we can face the need to review the laws. Let’s read…

    • Yes @Olu. But while we are not in support of what this guy did and we reject it in strong terms even calling the judgement fair; you are tempted to believe the Nigerian laws are made for the poor alone considering how the rich and super-rich get away with almost anything. A governor’s son was still on trial for money laundering, he goes ahead to kill someone with his car. What has been heard of that till now?

  26. It is a wonderful judgement. Kudos to our judges. People reacting against dis should be aware dat d guy in question is an armed robber and dis might nt be his 1st time. He has met his waterloo and besides he neva intended to steal only 2000 if d victim had one million i bet u he must stil comit d same crime. D law must take its cause. Y are we supporting a criminal??? RIP armed robbers should learn frm dis judgement

  27. What d boy did is wrong, he robed with a gun, fine. Did he kill? No. Given him dat kind of judgement is wickedness besid what is d governor of dat state doing abt it? They can’t waste a life bcos of that. May God have mercy on Nigeria.

  28. its so funny that things like this still exist in our country of today. Our government will now see the reason why they need to stabilize our economy. people are hungry. students are suffering,

am not in support of what that stupid boy did but look at what happened. constitution that has not been effective has become weapon to distroy him (The convict was arraigned on a four-count charge of
conspiracy to commit armed robbery, armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms punishable under sections 1 (2)a and 3 (1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap R.II Vol. 14 laws of the
    Federation of Nigeria, 2004.)

But when those in power do away with billions of what belong to those who served the government all their years, people who believe that when they retire, they will have something to fall back on. No verse of our constitution were revealed.

God dey o. Remember ONLY CHANE IS CONSTANT.

  29. Well, indeed according to firearms code, it is a capital offence, but my take is if it is one of these pension funds thieves or corrupt politicians even with firearms will be treated with just the penal code or criminal code. May God help the Nigerian Judicial system that favours the rich against the poor.
