Sultan Says Amnesty Still Possible Despite Boko Haram’s Rejection

sultansokotoThe Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Monday expressed optimism that members of the e violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, will still embrace dialogue despite the reported rejection of amnesty by its members.

Sultan Abubakar spoke with State House correspondents shortly after leading other members of the 2012 Federal Government Hajj delegation to present their report to President Goodluck Jonathan.

When asked for his reaction following the sect’s purported rejection of amnesty; a gesture which he clamoured for, the Sultan, who initially said he had no comment later simply said “There is nothing impossible in this world” when journalists pressed further.

He was subsequently whisked away by his aides.
