Sunderland’s New Manager Di Canio Addresses Himself As “The Unique One”

Following the sack of Martin O’neill from the stadium of light on saturday, Paolo Di Canio was appointed as the new Sunderland manager. The poor run of results saw the black cats slip just one point above the relegation Zone with seven matches to go in the Enlish premier league.Sunderland are without a win in their eight league matches and have managed to pick up just three points after eight games.
The nothern Irish football manager Martin O’ Neill took over from Steve Bruce sixteen months ago and won seven of his first ten fixtures when they finished 13th last season in the league table. He becomes the fifth manager in the top flight to loose his job following in the foot steps of managers like Roberto Di Matteo in Chelsea, Mark Hughes in Queens Park Rangers, Nigel Adkins in Southampton, Brian Mc Dermott in Reading.
Paolo Di Canio took over from O’Neill having left Swindon the league one club he was managing in february. He has promised to take Sunderland up and avoid the relegation zone this season. He is also following in the footsteps of Jose Mourinho who managed FC Porto, Chelsea , Internazionale and currently at Real Madrid. By branding himself “THE UNIQUE ONE”.
Mourinho announced himself as “THE SPECIAL ONE” following his emergence at Chelsea as the manager in 2004. Also recently, he opted to be called “THE ONLY ONE” because according to him, there is no one that does the things he do.
Let’s hope Di Canio brings all the sparks and fireworks to the EPL like Mourinho did and also keep Sunderland up this season.
