UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals Match Day 1

The Uefa champions league continues with the quater-finals as we witnessed some thrilling encounters yesterday. The big money spenders Paris saint German took on Barcelona at the Parc des princes stadium. David Beckham was given a rare start while the catalans coach returned after facing a long absence spell due to illness.
The home side started brightly as they had some good chances in thee opening minutes.Former Napoli hitman Ezequiel Lavezzi hit the cross bar but it was Barcelona who opened the scoring through Lionel Messi. Dani Alves gave a through pass to Messi and he placed it perfectly to give Barcelona the lead before halftime.
At halftime, Messi was substituted and replaced by Fabregas due to injury.Zlatan Ibrahimovich levelled for the French side after scoring a controversial goalfrom an offside position.
Alexis Sanchez was fouled in the 18yard box by the PSG keeper Siringu. The keeper was booked and a penalty was awarded to Barcelona. Xavi made no mistakes and slotted home to restore Barcelona’s lead in the 89th minute. When it appeared like Barcelona were going to claim all three points, Victor Valdes made a heavy blunder and gifted an equaliser to PSG through Blaise Matuidi’s effort. It ended 2-2 and Barcelona takes two away goals advantage to Camp nou and will welcome PSG in eight days time for the second leg.
The other match took place at the Allianz arena. Bayern Munich took on the Italian giants Juventus and defeated them 2-0 in what seemed like a one sided match. Bayern were by far the more superior side as Juventus were subdued.Bayern sored in the first minute and it was the full back Alaba who gave them the lead after a long range strike that Buffon couldn’t keep out of his net.
Thomas muller scored in the second half to make it 2-0 and give Bayern the advantage in this encounter. Buffon made some excellent saves to keep the scoreline honourable and also give Juventus the opportunity of Overturning a 2-0 deficit at the Turin in eight days time.
