Executive Secretary of the National Planning Commission, Abuja, Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo has thrown his weight behind the ongoing reconciliation drive by the National Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
Ntufam Ugbo who was speaking with newsmen in Abuja at the weekend commended the Chairman for the initiative which he described as crucial to the success of the party in the future, adding that more than ever the party needed to be united and stable for the challenges ahead.
He observed that the reconciliation move had become expedient not only to win back aggrieved members to the PDP fold but also to win more converts into the ruling party, stressing that the National Chairman was determined to not only keep the party together but also chart a better course for the PDP.
The NPC scribe further said that a more united PDP was formidable and had prospects in the next elections in the country, submitting that unity was the underlying factor behind the Bamanga Tukur’s reconciliation bid because the strength of the party was its unity.
Ntufam Ugbo while commending the National Chairman for a successful one year in office, urged him not to relent in the efforts at reforming the party and repositioning it to becoming better, reliable and competent political party in Nigeria that is capable of bringing the yearnings and aspirations of the people to reality through purposeful governance/government at all levels.
He expressed delight that the reconciliation move was driven by a genuine desire to unite the PDP for the interest and development of the nation, pleading with both warring and aggrieved members of the party to bury the hatchet and embrace peace not minding whose ox was gored
