The most iconic sportsman of the present generation, David Beckham, has resigned from professional football.
Since his debut for Manchester United a decade ago, Beckham has gone on to play at the highest level of football, including captaining his country, collecting 115 caps, and winning league titles in four different countries. The 38- year- old remains the only British footballer in history to attain such heights.
“I feel now is the right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level,” David Beckham told the FA.
Albeit Paris St Germain’s willingness to offer him an extended one- year deal, the former Three Lions captain has gracefully bowed out on a high note after winning the French League with the club; a trophy they last won 19 years ago.
Britain’s richest sportsman with an estimated fortune of £165 million pounds has played for the biggest clubs in the world such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Los Angeles Galaxy, and his last team PSG. He is set to continue his ambassadorial duties with a variety of organisations, which includes Sky Sports, Adidas, UNICEF and promoting football in China.
