Long time Chelsea target Radamel Falcao is set to undergo medical exams with Monaco on Monday before moving to the Ligue Un club for €60 million ( over £51 million), according to reports in Spain.

Falcao has long been sought after by Manchester United and Chelsea; but it appears newly- promoted Monaco has beaten the queue in a transfer coup that will have them cough out over £51 million for the Colombian.

Falcao will be partnering with former teammates and newly- recruited duo of Joao Mautinho and James Rodriguez on his arrival at the French club.

Not long ago, Monaco secured the pair of Mautinho and Rodriguez from Porto for £60 million, while the inclusion of Falcao will go a long way to issue a statement to other Ligue 1 teams, on the level of preparedness of Claudio Ranieri’s side.

Monaco assistant coach Jean Petit is reported to have told Radio RCN on Friday: “Yes, we are expecting Falcao and four or five other players of his quality.

“We have spoken and we continue to speak with Falcao and his representatives, negotiations are ongoing. We hope to seal a deal as soon as possible.

“Monaco need a player like Falcao because he can help us a lot and because he can attract other top players, and that’s the best way of confirming our project is big and interesting.

“Signing Falcao is a big coup on sporting and media levels for French football,” Petit added.
