On the heels of Andy Murray’s withdrawal from the French Open, Juan Martin del Potro has opted out of the same event, which begins on May 26.

Del Potro revealed he was suffering from a virus after losing to Frenchman Benoit Paire at the Italian Open last week.

The Argentine, who is ranked at number seven, made the quarter- finals of the French Open last year, losing to Roger Federer.

Murray had earlier announced his withdrawal from the same championship, due to back injury.

Former world number seven Mardy Fish, and his fellow American Brian Baker, 41st and 71st respectively in the present rankings, have also pulled out.
