The General Manager, Sales will be in charge of sales, general management and financial management of the Nigerian operations.
He/she will report to the Fragrance director for Africa based in South Africa.
The position is based in Lagos, Nigeria
The General Manager, Sales will have as principal responsibilities:
To visit clients regularly on site in order to understand their expectations and needs and to propose appropriate solutions,
To develop strong and long term relationships with core customers,
To identify, develop and grow new business
Develop marketing and sales strategies for new opportunities.
To provide other departments and affiliates with regular and detailed feedbacks
To conduct and to manage strategic research in order to identify and to assess new business partnerships in the Northern and the Eastern region
To coordinate and participate in trade shows, workshops and international/local events as needed
To represent the company with the Nigerian authorities, statutory/regulatory/financial bodies and third parties
To manage business relationship with local importers in Lagos
To supervise the daily activities of the office and staff and to recruit local staff if needed
To set yearly sales targets by customer and manage these targets
To manage the operating budget and to ensure efficient cost control
To determine and set credit policies in conjunction with company policies and procedures.
Desired Skills & Experience
European Business School degree or Master’s degree in Business Administration
5 to 10 years experience in sales within the fragrance, chemical or cosmetic industries
Strategic planning and management expertise
Strong command of French and English
Demonstrated project management skills
Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
Proven negotiation skills including the ability to persuade and influence others
Ability to develop excellent relationships
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to work in a multi tasking environment
Independent, self driven, motivated, positive attitude and high energy.
