Liverpool have agreed to a fee believed to be in the region of £6 million with Celta Vigo for their 25- year- old striker Iago Aspas.

According to Dailymail Sports, Aspas will fly into Liverpool next week to discuss personal terms and undergo medical exams, but not before his relegation- threatened club’s final game of the season against Espanyol on Saturday.

Aspas, who has scored 12 goals in La Liga this season, has attracted interest from Swansea and Valencia but Brendan Rodgers did beat the queue for the striker.

Aspas came through the ranks at Celta, making his debut in 2008. He was the club’s top scorer with 23 league goals last season as the club were promoted back to the Spanish top flight.

With Luis Suarez’s ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic ruling him out of the start of next season, Daniel Sturridge and Fabio Borini remains the only option upfront for Rodgers, who would like to add to his strike force.

Like Suarez; like Aspas, the 25- year- old, whose £8m valuation was reduced because of his clubs position in the league recently received a four- match ban for headbutting Deportivo defender Carlos Marchena.

Heading into Saturday’s home game against Espanyol, Celta needs only one point to keep their head above water.
