Flying Eagles Head Coach Sam John Obuh has explained his decision to drop seven key members of his squad for the Toulon invitational in France.

Captain Abduljaleel Ajagun, Jonah Usman,Agboyi Ovbokha, Sikiru Alimi, Lucky Omeruo, Chidi Osuchukwu and Chizoba Amaefule were the experienced players dropped for the invitational.

Obuh reacted angrily to some reports pointing out that the players are out of his squad for the FIFA Under- 20 World Cup which begins in Turkey on June 21.

“It’s not true that the players dropped for the Toulon tournament will not make the final World Cup list. I don’t understand whee all the stories are emanating from,” Obuh exclusively told Supersport.com.

The Flying Eagles coach further stated that he was only trying to see how well the other members of his team will acquaint themselves at the warm up tournament.

“I just want to see what the other members of the squad can do and the tournament in France gives me the best opportunity to do just that.

“After the tournament I will have a clearer idea about the player who will eventually make my 21- man squad,” Obuh added.
