dr-doyin-okupeSpecial Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has received commendation from a former DG of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and chairman of the Silver Bird group, Ben Murray Bruce over the way he has handled his responsibilities.

Bruce, who was speaking at a one-day workshop for media officials of the federal ministries, departments and agencies, organised by Dr. Okupe’s office, stressed the need for media managers in government circles to always have the courage to speak to their principals and defend their actions against negative media reportage

He also faulted Okupe’s critics who saw his appointment as one of an ‘attack dog’, and advised him to regard the label as a compliment rather than as an insult.

“If you say Doyin Okupe is an attack dog, that’s his job. That’s the job he is paid to do. A media aide shouldn’t allow his boss to be attacked without defence.

“In this era of twitter, you must protect your boss who is attacked on daily basis. Do not be afraid,” he told Okupe.
