Reforms, Good Governance Not About Jonathan – Presidency

GoodluckJonathanACUSThe Presidency Tuesday said the reforms and good governance programmes embarked upon by President Goodluck Jonathan was not about the president, but about ‘Nigeria and its stability.’

Speaking at a one-day workshop for media officials of the federal ministries, departments and agencies, the Special Assistant to the President on Public Matters, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said: “The reforms and process of good governance going on in the country is not all about the person of President Goodluck Jonathan, It is all about Nigeria and its stability.”

According to Okupe: “The President said the reforms in the country are not about him. He told me, I may be here tomorrow and I may not be here the next day, but the country is there. The country will not go away. So what is happening is not about President Jonathan.”

Okupe, whose office organised the workshop told the participants that “People should not transfer their so-called hatred to the President. Everything is like a stage, if you destroy the stage, then there would be no stage again for you to play the game. The overall interest is the paramount interest of the country. So everything, we do, there is the need to have Nigeria at the back of our minds. As they say, Soldier go, soldier come, barrack dey where e dey.”
