The Golden Jubilee of the coronation of the Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero will start on Friday with prayers in Mosques across the state.
The Secretary of the Publicity Committee for the event, Farouk Usman, stated this on Wednesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano.
He said that the celebration would be low-keyed to reflect the mood of the emirate and in recognition of the culture of the people.
“So far the committee is working hand in hand with relevant authorities including the state government to ensure that our revered Emir gets a befitting anniversary for his 50 years on the throne of his fathers,” he said.
Mr. Usman also revealed that a grand Durbar would be staged on Saturday to commemorate the event.
“As you know horse Durbar is a tradition identified with not only Kano, but the entire Northern part of the country.
“There will be a grand Durbar for the entertainment of the Emir and his subjects on Saturday,” he said.
Mr. Bayero, one time Ambassador to Senegal, became the 13th Fulani Emir of Kano on June 15, 1963.
