Luka Modric is affirmative of Gareth Bale’s prospects at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

The pair were teammates at Tottenham Hotspur before the Croatian moved to Madrid in 2012 for a fee in the region of £30m.

“Bale would fit perfectly, we could really use him,” the Real midfielder told Marca. “He is the type of player who will help us take a step forward,

“He would give the team another dimension. His shot, his strength, his speed, his offensive power.”

Manchester United are among the clubs linked with the former Southampton forward. Meanwhile, Bales agent told Spanish television in May the Welshman would listen to an offer from Madrid.

Madrid are reported to be lining up an £85m bid for the 23-year-old Welshman and Modric considers that an investment that would yield its return in due course.

“I can tell you we’re friends and he is an exceptional player. I guarantee it.

“And whether the club is Real Madrid, Tottenham or another, they can only win if they sign a player like that.

“If it is Real Madrid, it’s better for us,” added Modric.
