Manchester City has made a £40 million bid for AC Milan’s highly-rated striker Stephan El-Shaarawy and the Rossoneris are weighing up City’s interest for the striker, who alongside Mario Balotelli became the stronghold of Milan’s attack last season.

On Saturday Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Milan could give in to City’s ‘pressing’ and let El Shaarawy join the Manchester club.

The 20-year-old striker of both Egyptian and Italian descent cost AC Milan a fee said to be in the region of €15.5m when the club bought him from Genoa, and finished last season with 16 goals from 37 games.

Milan finished third in the Serie A and will have to play a two-leg preliminary qualifying round for next season’s Champions League.

El-Shaarawy has been the subject of transfer speculations this season, there is another report that Milan rejected a bid from Napoli in January for the player who wears a Mohican-style haircut.
