Fmr Army Chief, Agwai Replaces Kontagora As SURE-P Deputy Chair

AgwaiPresident Goodluck Jonathan has appointed former Chief of Defence Staff,  General Martin Luther Agwai (rtd.) as the new deputy chairman of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P).

Agwai, also a former Chief of Army Staff during the Obasanjo administration, replaces Major-General Mamman Kontagora (rtd.) who passed on last week.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Rueben Abati said in a statement yesterday that Agwai has been a member of the SURE-P Committee since its inauguration in February 2012.

The committee is charged with the responsibility of managing and reinvesting the Federal Government share of the proceeds from the partial removal of subsidy on petrol in projects that will elevate the living conditions of ordinary Nigerians.
