Jonathan Hails N1.1bn Bounty On Shekau As Positive Development

boko haram spokesmanThe presidency yesterday hailed the decision by the United States of America to place a $7 million bounty on the head of Boko Haram sect leader, Abubakar Shekau, saying it is a welcome development.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and publicity, Dr Reuben Abati,  noted: “It (the placement of a bounty) is a positive development.  We welcome any effort of the international community to support Nigeria’s effort at waging war against terrorism and its perpetrators.

“What this proves is that terrorism is a global phenomenon that requires global effort at combating it. Nigeria believes that the international community needs to come together to combat terrorism.”

Information Nigeria reports that the United States yesterday posted up to $23 million in rewards to help capture five leaders of militant groups which have spread terror in Nigeria and West Africa with highest reward of up to $7 million offered for Abubakar Shekau, while $5 million each was offered for alleged Al-Qaeda veteran Mokhtar Belmokhtar and Yahya Abou Al-Hammam, said to be a top figure in Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, according to US officials.

  1. This is a great offer but in law of contract “can a contract be made to the whole world”? It is mouth watering and whot doing but the jtf has driven him away why not allow for the live catch of any of its members.
