New Manchester United manager David Moyes officially reports to duty on Monday. The Premier League champions also expects its players- apart from those who have been on international duty- to return on Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of the new boss’ first training session on Thursday.

The Scot is expected to take a full-strength squad with him on 10 July for the first leg of their tour of the Far East and Australia.

Moyes, 50, replaced Sir Alex Ferguson who retired at the end of last season after more than 26 years at the helm of the Old Trafford affairs.

The former Everton manager’s first line of action will be to settle grievances with 27-year-old striker Wayne Rooney. As revealed by the retired Scotsman at his final game at Old Trafford last season, the England international had asked for a transfer- though the player has not officially disclosed such.

Sunday Sun earlier revealed that Moyes has had a secret meeting with Rooney, who played under the former at Everton as a teenager before joining United in August 2004, in a bid to persuade the latter to stay at United. Whether he will stay remains to be seen.
