Nigeria Junior Women Volleyball team will on Friday begin their campaign in the 17th edition of the women’s U-20 World Championship in Brno, Czech Republic.
They begin with the match against Turkey before facing north-Africans Egypt on June 22 and Algeria on June 23rd, while their last pool D match comes up on June 25th against Italy. All the preliminary matches are scheduled for the SH Vodova.
Four teams will qualify for the round of 16; from each of the four pools immediately after the preliminary round of matches. About 20 teams will take part in the championship, which begins from June 21-30, five teams per group.
A delegation of the Nigerian team, comprising of four officials and 12 players left Abuja for Brno on Tuesday for the championship. The players include: Promise Mercy, Ukpabi Ijeoma, Nwosu Chinenye, Audu Hajara, Ikhiede Francisca and Aharanwa Chidinma. Others are, Atule Doosuur, Nnebuo Amarachi, Daniel Patience, Oluwatosin Bukola, Umaru Aisha and Bitrus Jumai.
Nigeria is drawn in Pool D alongside Turkey, Egypt, Algeria and will play at the 3,000 seats capacity SH Vodova.
