Despite their widely publicized feud which came to a head when President Goodluck Jonathan’s security detail prevented Rivers State governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi from shaking hands with him at a presidential dinner last week in Abuja, the two were spotted together today in a warm embrace.
Amaechi met the President at the Port Harcourt International airport today and both men hugged each other in full glare of journalists, supporters and a faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led by a Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, who is an indigene of Rivers State.
Jonathan was returning from his village of Otueke in Bayelsa State where he commissioned the Otuoke Comprehensive Hospital and visited the Federal University, Otueke.
He made a brief stop-over at Port Harcourt where his Presidential Jet was parked at the airport en route Abuja.
This is how it ought to be,when election time comes you can flex muscles.
Amaechi-Jonathan public embrace: tactical, if not strategic, win-win chessboard game of political combatants. Afterwards, both warlords with their select troops will return to covert plots to undo the other. In the open, it can be claimed, obviously, that Jonathan controls better strategic chips of the chessboard, with his eyes trained toward capturng Amaechi’s Queen; yes, we say Amaechi’s Queen. But, no, Amaechi, in the end, has vantage point, in the game. We shall not reveal what we believe shall be his next move, if he is a rational player, which we assume he is. Let the chess game continue.
