In the replay of the suspended clash between Kano Pillars and Heartland, after the first schedule was abandoned due to fans violence, Pillars emerged 1-0 winner of the match played yesterday (Sunday) in Abuja.

The only goal of the match was scored by Pillars’ inspirational playmaker Rabiu Ali in the 72nd minute after a scoreless first- half.

The victory means the reigning Nigeria Professional Football League champions are back to the top of the log with 28 points, three more than the ‘Naze millionaires.’

The goal scorer, Ali, felt the goal came at a point when Pillar fans were growing frustrated and believes they wouldn’t want to play catch- ups again before the end of the season.

“I am very happy that we beat Heartland to win the three points. I am also excited that I scored the important goal that gave us victory.

“The goal means a lot to me because it came when our fans were beginning to lose patience. You see we were playing very well but the goals refused to come.

“With the victory, we have climbed to the top of the table and that is where we want to remain till the en d of the season,” Ali disclosed to Sunday Trust.

The midfielder noted the efforts of club chairman Alhaji Abba Yola towards what he claimed was a much expected victory.

“We were sure of winning because before we came to Abuja, our chairman spoke to us and charged us to beat Heartland,” Ali added.
