Jose Mourinho has reiterated his commitment to improve on Chelsea’s track record after signing a four-year deal with the West London club and had told all of his old guards they will have to work hard to earn a first team shirt.
Ashley Cole’s first team appearance might have been endangered after the left back was caught with a cigarette as he left a rented Los Angeles pad with friends while on Holiday, and has been seen in the City’s clubs smoking heavily.
This is not the first time the England international have been seen smoking in public, but this could be the first time under Mourinho who has been furious in the past with unsportsmanlike attitudes and habits from players.
While he was still in charge at Real Madrid, the 50-year-old Portuguese dropped full-back Fabio Coentrao last season, after he was seen with a cigarette outside of a restaurant- after protesting that he was not a regular smoker.
Cole, who was signed from Arsenal in 2006 for £5m in a deal which had William Gallas move up north could be risking the wrath of the same man who brought him to Stamford Bridge, should he continue with such habit.
Close friends of the left-back also claimed that “Ashley always smokes heavily during his annual summer holiday in LA.”
Moreover, Mourinho will be far from impressed with Ashley if really he smokes in chains.
