Ramadan: Muslim Group Wants Jonathan To Review State Of Emergency In Three States

Jonathan-Nyako-Gaidam-and-Shettima-360x225As the Muslim Holy month of Ramadan fast approaches, the National Council for Muslim Youths Organisation (NACOMYO), has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to urgently review the state of emergency imposed on Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.

The call was made by the organization’s national president, Kamal’din Akintunde in Yola, Adamawa state at a symposium for imams and scholars.

Akintude charged religious leaders to propagate good virtues that would promote peace, unity and mutual understanding just as he warned them against making inflammatory statements capable of heating up the polity during the period and after.

Guest speaker and lecturer at Mass Communication department, University of Maiduguri, Professor Umar Pate, urged imams and pastors to be mindful of the diversity and complexity of Nigeria.
