State Of Emergency: IBB Lauds Intensified Military Onslaught Against Insurgents

ibbFormer military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), has hailed the ongoing military onslaught against insurgents in the northern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, describing the declaration of emergency rule in those states was timely and appropriate in order to save the country from attacks; foreign or domestic.

The Minna-born general made this known in Kaduna at the Turbaning ceremony of the former minister of defence, General Theophilous Danjuma (rtd) as the Jarmmai Zazzau by the Emir of Zaria, Alhaji Shehu Idris.

Babangida said the use of military might was a necessity to save the country from being hijacked by the boko haram insurgents who have destabilized the peace of the country and the north in particular for too long.

It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan in May declared state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states; considered Boko Haram’s stronghold.
