Suspected Tarok Militants Sack Wase Villages

Jonah JangAs relative peace gradually returns to Plateau State, two villages in Wase Local Government Area of the state yesterday resumed hostilities as they attacked and burned down houses there.

It was learnt that the latest violence was between the Tarok and Jukun tribes in the area.

The attacked villages, Kungur and Jigawan Audu, mainly populated by the Jukun and Hausa tribes, were attacked in the wee hours of Sunday by alleged Tarok militants. Members of the two villages are reportedly taking refuge in Wase town presently.

Confirming the incident, acting Information Officer for the Special Task Force (STF) Navy Lt. Jude Akpa, said the suspected Tarok youths had attacked a village in Wase but were intercepted by the STF before they reached Wase town.
