The Chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, on Monday said the Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Ita Ewa, had performed poorly in his responsibilities.
Boroffice, who was reacting to Ewa’s defence over the committee’s report which indicted the minister, maintained that the achievements listed by the minister were projects executed before he was made a minister.
Ewa on Sunday had argued that the committee’s report on his achievements was wrong.
But the Senator, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, noted that heads of all the agencies in the ministry performed better than the minister.
He said, “The minister was not facing the reality at all. The senate committee which I chair carried out our oversight functions and had reported the true positions of things.
“It is not possible for the minister to assess his performance. The task of doing that rests on the lawmakers and we have done our work. Does he want to assess himself? He should sit down and work.
“He did not get the point at all. He had no input in the activities of the agencies he listed as part his achievements. I established two of the agencies he listed as part of his achievements while I was in service and he had done nothing to improve on their performances.”
