Super Eagles players belatedly arrived in Sao Paulo on Saturday night, hours after the start of the tournament without Napoli midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, who picked up a knock in the World Cup qualifying match against Namibia in Windhoek last week.

The Nigerian side will line up against minnows Tahiti in Belo Horizonte, where the team is presently lodged, by 8pm (Nigerian time) later in the day.

The squad arrived at their hotel at about 7am on Sunday, having flown from Windhoek in Namibia via Johannesburg to Sao Paulo.

The African champions had been due to arrive last week Thursday, but a pay dispute with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has resulted in the delay as the squad opted to miss their initial scheduled flight.

Coach Stephen Keshi side had their first training session in Brazil on Sunday with barely 38 hours left to prepare for their first game after their late arrival.
