2 Suspects Arrested By NSCDC Over Ebonyi Kerosene Explosion

Two persons suspected to be involved in the adulteration of kerosene that led to the death of 13-year-old Chidera Nwoba, have been arrested by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Ebonyi State command.

The explosion which led to the death of Nwoba, occurred at about 6.45am last weekend as she was trying to put on a stove to prepare breakfast for her siblings.

The stove allegedly busrt into flames and burnt her to death before neighbours could put out the flames.

Two others who are currently on admission at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, FETHA, were also injured from the explosion caused by the adulterated kerosene.

The Corps Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Corp, ASC Emmanuel Nwali, told newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Abakaliki, that the suspects were arrested because of the alleged role they played in the explosion.
