Following Major Hamza Al-Mustapha’s discharge and acquittal yesterday by the Court of Appeal in Lagos which dismissed the death sentence passed on him by Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos High Court, the former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha made the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) his first port of call.
Receiving Al-Mustapha at the Ikotun-Egbe, Lagos headquarters of the SCOAN, Senior Pastor, Prophet T.B Joshua, said his relationship with the ex-convict has come a long way which explains the former CSO’s courtesy visit to him.
He was quoted as saying, “I got to know him (Al-Mustapha) many years ago when a petition was addressed to General Bamaiyi who was the then Chairman of the NDLEA. As you know, several efforts had been made by my detractors to bring me and my ministry down. One of those efforts was that petition. I was arrested for investigation and it was later discovered that it was a tissue of lies. I spent nine days with them for investigation and they found the whole thing to be a fabrication. From there, I was taken to Aso Rock (Seat of Power) to see the president; it was there that I met Mustapha.”
According to T.B Joshua, he told Al-Mustapha then, who did not believe his words, that he would be arrested and put behind bars for several years but would regain his freedom eventually, which came to pass yesterday; hence the visit.
“That is why you see him coming here as his first port of call. Where there is no vision, people perish” Prophet Joshua enthused.
