Aregbesola: No Going Back On Demolition Exercise

Rauf-AregbesolaOsun State governor, Mr. Rauf  Aregbesola has vowed to continue the demolition exercise in Osogbo, the state capital, in order to give it a befitting status.

He reiterated his stance while speaking at a forum to break the Ramadan fast with journalists, politicians and government officials at Government House.

The governor said no amount of distraction would deter him from executing the state’s beautification programme to which he was irrevocably committed.

The governor made this known on the backdrop of a suggestion by a journalist that the demolition exercise should be given a human face.

Aregbesola, who dismissed the speculations that discontent  in certain quarters might deny him re-election said he was more concerned with development.

“Leave election to God and let’s face the assignment I am here to do.

“I know very well that majority of the people of the state are with me, so let sympathizers pocket their sympathy,” he said.

Aregbesola disclosed that he had signed some urban renewal programme papers on Sunday, adding that the initiative would be extended to other towns.

“It is going to be monumental. Nothing of such thing has happened in Nigeria, not even in Lagos.

“We are not building airport for a joke. There will also be aircraft maintenance here.

“We are running an unusual government and there is nothing conventional in what we are doing because we want to turn Osun to a hub of Nigeria,” he added. (NAN)
