Army Busts Robbery Gang Made Up Of Serving Policemen

NAThe 4th Brigade of the Nigeria Army has busted a police robbery gang purportedly led by an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Okubopagha.

The Army said ASP Okubopagha and Inspector Okoro were from the ‘B’ Department of the Bayelsa State Police Command.

Narrating how the suspects were smashed, the Commander of the 4th Brigade, Pat Akem, who spoke through the unit Public Relation Officer, Capt. Roseline Managbe, said the gang was exposed following the arrest of one Nanagha Aduoumemi, who claimed to be an Inspector in the ‘A’ Department of the Bayelsa State Command.

Capt. Managbe said ASP Okubopagha was nabbed by troops of the 222 Battalion at Orhoror junction along Bomadi road in Delta State when he blocked traffic with logs of woods while other members of his gang hid in the surrounding bushes.

She said the Inspector was arrested as he attempted to run into the bush while other members of the gang escaped into the creeks.

Capt. Managbe added that “The suspect revealed that members of his gang are all serving police personnel who indulge in robbery activities after their normal police duties.”

  1. I wish many people read my comment some time last week, in response to the Police Service Commission proposal to recruit more Policemen. Well there is an adage in my place that says “antelope that went to market did come back and you ask mgbada to go when you know there is tiger on the road”Personel audit, screenig of serving officers and men for proper identification confirmed by a traditional ruler of the community the person comes from, certified by Local Government Chairman, and Town Uninion President may help to reduce hiring of robbers as policemen.
I shall like this my comment to be repeated so that authorities may see it
