Bayelsa Police Declares Virus, 17 Others Wanted For Murder Of Policemen

Virus and 17 others involved in the April gruesome killing of 11 policemen along the waterways of Lobia community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state have been declared wanted by the Bayelsa State Police Command.

Virus, the leader of the renegade militant group and his men, the police command said were found culpable in the killing of the policemen.

According to a statement, yesterday, by its spokesman, Mr. Alex Akhigbe, the Police command identified sLucky Bakumo alias Blacky, Egedin Godday Sunday alias Community, Young Money alias Virus, Emeka Samuel, Blacky Wikewei, Idowu Matthew, Odobogheonuru Famous and Odenyen Zinikiware, as being among those wanted for the crime.

They are all said to be beneficiaries of the ongoing amnesty programme of the Federal Government.

Sources say the indictment of the alleged killers of the policemen was made possible with the arrest of one of the suspects identified as Jackson Feutubobai also known as Jasper, who sources said was a dropout of the Law Department in Niger Delta University, Amassoma.

While Jasper was paraded at the state police headquarters after his arrest, he told newsmen that the suspects declared wanted were directly involved in the killing and burning of the policemen.

“Virus disobeyed my instruction and wasted the lives of the policemen,” Jasper said, adding that the wanted Virus and some of the men left Azuzuama for Port Harcourt while others went to Bakassi after committing the crime.
