Usain Bolt is in contention to play his dream match for his beloved Manchester United at Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial next month.

For his commitment and dedication to the ‘Red Devils’ over a decade of service at Old Trafford, Ferdinand was rewarded with a testimonial match against Spanish club Sevilla slated for August 9. The centre-back has urged new manager David Moyes to let the world’s fastest man line up for the encounter.

Jamaican sprinter, Bolt is a renowned fan of United and a good friend of former manager Sir Alex Ferguson. He begged Sir Alex to give him a trial for the Premier League champions before the Scot’s retirement last May.

“I know I could make a difference. I’d be the fastest in the team- But I can play as well”, Bolt said on the prospect of playing for United.

“If Ferguson called me up and said, ‘OK let’s do this, come and have a trial’, it would be impossible for me to say no”.

A source has now told The Sun the London Olympics gold medalist’s dream has finally seen the horizon.

“Usain has finally got his wish and he’ll be lining up alongside Rio.

“It should be quite a game. It will be fascinating to see if Usain’s speed will be matched by his passing and ball control”.

Bolt’s selection for the August friendly at Old Trafford is due to be confirmed by the club next week.
