Demolition: Call Aregbesola To Order Now, Osun PDP Tells Jonathan, IG

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan; the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar; and the Director-General of the State Security Services (SSS), Mr. Ita Ekpeyong, to call the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola to order following the recent demolition exercises in the state.

aregbesolaThe party chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa stated this on Saturday while reacting to the demolition exercise going on in Osogbo, the state capital, saying: “Nobody is against the development of Osun but the problem is that the demolitions of people’s properties should follow due process such as giving adequate compensations to those whose properties are destroyed.”

The party chairman stated that a section of the party’s secretariat, named after the Mr. Jonathan, was demolished without any prior notice; stating that this was unreasonable and unacceptable to the party.

Alhaji Olaoluwa therefore called on all the security agencies and the Federal Government to “call Aregbesola to order before he causes a complete breakdown of law and order in the state,” even as he urged all stakeholders in the state to prevail on the state government to tread with caution as the demolition is an ill-wind that will blow no good.

He also wondered what had happened to the places the state government had earlier demolished, asking “how can you destroy the people’s means of livelihood just in the name of beautification? Is this what Aregbesola has been using all the loans he is taking for?”

He also warned banks granting loans to the administration of Mr. Aregbesola to stop doing so as it amounted to a risk on their part.
