Former Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Chairman, Mrs. Farida Waziri, has apologised to the House of Representatives for not honouring the Committee on Drugs/Narcotics and Financial Crimes invitation.
Waziri, in a statement by her Secretary, Mr. Alfred Oko, explained that she was not in the country on the date of the invitation.
She said, “I am under instruction to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated July 3 2013 in respect of an investigation to unravel the status of all assets seized and recovered by the EFCC since its inception.
“I regret my absence at the public hearing due to my being out of the country following an earlier schedule that conflicts with the date of the meeting. I truly wish to be in that meeting as scheduled by the House Committee to clear the air.
“Nevertheless, I am ever willing to attend subsequent meetings on this issue and any other that you consider my contributions relevant.”
