Fayose’s Suspension From PDP Cannot Stand, Says Tukur

Ayodele-FayoseNational Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has picked holes in the suspension of a former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose from the party, saying the action violated laid down procedures and so cannot stand.

According to a statement issued on his behalf by his Special Assistant on Media, Oliver Okpala on Friday, Tukur made this known when he received some members of the state party executive in his office in Abuja.

The national chairman said he was surprised that “such a far-reaching decision involving a former governor and governorship aspirant of the party could be taken by the state chapter without due consultations and consent of the national leadership.”

Questioning the rationale behind the hurried decision to suspend Fayose and other party excos in the state, Okpala stated that, “It is the view of the national chairman that the state executive, having brought the matter, would have allowed the national leadership to look into it and take a decision before the hurried suspension.”

Therefore, “He said that such a decision violated lay down procedures and cannot stand. He  remarked that the National Leadership of the Party will not condone any act of imposition of candidate in the party under his leadership”, Okpala added.
