The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, on Friday announced the postponement of the 2013 World Cyber Security Conference initially slated for Tuesday by her office.
The First Lady cited the death in a ghastly auto crash of her foster mother; Mrs. Charity Oba on Monday, as reason for the indefinite postponement.
The information was contained in a statement issued to newsmen by her media aide, Mr. Ayo Osinlu.
The statement read, “This is to inform all invited guests that the 2013 World Cyber Security Conference slated for Tuesday, July 30, has been postponed due to the tragic loss of the foster mother of the First Lady, Patience Jonathan.
“The conference is being organised by the Office of the First Lady, in collaboration with the International Multilateral Partnerships Against Cyber Threat, Nigerian Communications Commission, the National Information Technology Development Agency and New Horizons Nigeria.
“The First Lady was recently appointed as the ITU-IMPACT Child On-Line Protection Champion by the International Telecommunication Union.
“The conference is expected to raise awareness on the new role of the First Lady as the Child On-Line Protection Champion and build international support for her expected role. A new date will be announced later.”
