Arouna Kone Signs a Three-Year Deal With Everton.

Everton FC has confirmed the signing of striker Arouna Kone from Wigan on a three year deal after meeting a £6m release clause.

The 29-year-old Ivoirian opted to reunite with manager Roberto Martinez, who left Wigan at the end of the season after leading the Latics to their first FA Cup victory in as many years.

Newcastle and Everton both met the release clause in Kone’s contract, but he snubbed a move to St James’ park in favour of the Merseyside club.

Kone scored 11 Premier Laegue goals for Wigan last season after signing in from Levante of Spain last summer.

He has also played for Belgian club Lierse SK, Spanish side Sevilla, Dutch sides Roda JC and PSV.

He has featured in three African Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaigns and has scored 9 times in 39 appearances for Ivory Coast. He was selected for the 2006 Germany World Cup.
