The most glamorous annual beauty pageant in Nigeria, the Silver Bird Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN), will henceforth be hosted by the Bayelsa State government.
Governor Seriake Dickson, who made the announcement while speaking at the grand finale of the 26th edition of the beauty pageant in Yenagoa weekend, described the event as first of its kind in the state.
He said the move was a deliberate policy of his administration to make Bayelsa a tourism and investment destination and commended the Silver Bird Group for being pioneers of beauty pageant in Nigeria.
Mr. Dickson, who could not hide his excitement at the emergence of 18-year old Anna Ebiere Banner representing Bayelsa State, as winner of the coveted MBGN crown, commended the other 31 contestants for their dedication and commitment throughout their two-week stay in the state preparing for the event.
He described the contestants as true ambassadors of their families and Nigeria, and urged them to see themselves all as winners.
