John Obi Mikel now has many options to choose from as he’s poised to move away from Stamford Bridge, since Jose Mourinho secured him for the Blues in 2006- after a protracted transfer saga involving Manchester United and Lyn Oslo.

Newly promoted Monaco have joined the race for the Nigeria international who has attracted offers from Galatasaray and Trabzonspor as reported by the Daily Mail.

It is reported that Galatasaray and the west London club have been negotiating for the midfielder rated at £16m, but big spending Monaco is set to offer Mikel the opportunity of working under coach Claudio Ranieri, who left Chelsea in 2004, as against teaming up with Didier Drogba, who presently plays for the Turkish champions.

Mikel’s present contract runs until 2017, but he admitted his future is unclear while on international duty with Nigeria at the Confederations Cup.

“I have a four-year contract with Chelsea, but you know, in football you can never guess, one day you are here, the next day you might leave,” he said last week.

Chelsea have started building up for his exit, having made an offer for Sporting Lisbon teenager Bruma, who represented Portugal in the ongoing under-20 World Cup and was the subject of a bizarre kidnap plot from his club’s fans this week.
