According to reports coming from South Africa, a young lesbian was murdered and further mutilated in Thokoza, east of Johannesburg.
As the South African Times report, the 26-year-old was brutally killed in an apparent homophobic attack, having been found with a toilet brush inserted into her vagina.
A police source says, “The woman was last seen at a local shebeen and we are awaiting the results of a postmortem to determine whether she had been raped.”
As at the time of this reports, no arrests have been made yet, as police asked civilians to help them with information concerning the murder.
Last week, Amnesty International issued a report where it stated that homophobic attacks had increased dramatically in recent years.
It would be recalled that South Africa is the only African country that recognises gay rights and allows same-sex marriage.
