A Soldier on guard duty at SETRACO Construction Company yard in Benin, the Edo State capital was yesterday killed by gunmen who also kidnapped an Israeli working with the company.
Another soldier was reportedly shot and wounded at the yard, while a third soldier, also on guard duty was said to have escaped the attack by the gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
The kidnap victim, whose name cannot be immediately verified, is said to be a staff of SETRACO working on the Upper Mission Road in Benin.
4 Brigade Army spokesperson, Capt. Roslyn Managbe, when contacted said she was yet to be briefed on the incident.
However, spokesperson for the Edo Police Command, Mr. Moses Eguavoen confirmed the incident, saying police had commenced covert intelligence gathering with a view to apprehending the suspects and also ascertain what might have led to the incident.
He therefore assured the people of the state of determination and commitment of the police to securing lives and property.
