Former Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni was on target as Guangzhou R&F beat Hangzhou 4-1 in the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Saturday.
The former Everton of England forward opened scoring in the 7th minute to end his four games goal drought before Chen Zhongliu equalized for Hangzhou in the 33rd minute.
Brazilian Rafael Coelho increased the tally in the 45th and scored his brace in the 69th, while compatriot Davi converted a penalty in the 54th to hand Sven Goran Eriksson’s side the maximum point.
The goal was Yakubu’s fifth of the season, but his first since scoring a brace in the 2-2 draw at Changchun Yatai on June 1.
Guangzhou R&F are seventh on the 16-team CSL table with 22 points from 17 games.
After Sunday matches, the CSL will go on a two-week break and on resumption Guangzhou R&F will be up against Shandong Luneng.
